SPARKS, MD — 6.8.2026 — Boho Fabrics, a local woman-owned specialty apparel fabric shop and online retailer with a fashion and vintage focus, is celebrating its retail store anniversary by launching long-awaited sewing classes in a newly developed Design Studio. Boho Fabrics is committed to celebrating diversity, encouraging youth sewing with innovative programs like Next Gen Stitchers, fostering community events, and encouraging sustainable sewing. With the closure of JoAnn Fabrics also hitting its one year mark, many customers have come in-store to talk about how wonderful it is to have a creative outlet, touch fabrics, and discuss projects. Boho Fabrics is one of the only apparel and home decor fabric suppliers in the area, and also has a vintage vibe, carrying vintage fabrics, trims, buttons and fabrics. The shop also works on trying to minimize fabric waste with zero waste pattern workshops, supplying deadstock fabrics, and offering tailoring workshops to try to reduce clothing in landfills. Boho Fabrics also carries high quality sewing machines from Janome and Elna.
Founder and owner Emily Pritts began her journey while pursuing a degree in fashion design, where she noticed a significant gap between the high-quality fabrics available to industry professionals and those offered to entry-level designers and home sewists. Over the past decade, she has worked to bridge that gap by sourcing fashion-forward textiles and making them accessible to garment makers.
Boho Fabrics has started running a variety of classes tailored to both beginners and intermediate sewists. The classes are geared towards professional apparel construction and bag making techniques. Boho has also committed to hosting free Community Sewing sessions this year. Recently, Boho has started a Next Gen Stitchers Initiative to support youth sewists in the area. There will also be Summer Camps for kids and teens. Additional classes, workshops, and open studio opportunities will be announced throughout the year.
The new Boho Design Studio reflects Boho Fabrics’ ongoing commitment to sustainability, skill-building, and community education. To celebrate one year in Sparks, there will be a 20% storewide discount (excludes gift cards, classes and sewing machines), free gifts with qualifying purchase and in-store giveaways.

Founder Quote:
"In 2015, when I had really gotten into sewing, I made a list with the following goals: to have a fabric store one day with vintage sewing machines, sewing classes for kids and adults, and foster a creative community where people could learn and make things," said Emily Pritts, founder of Boho Fabrics. "Opening a store, launching a studio, and teaching classes has been exciting and terrifying at the same time. At the end of the day, I love having a place where people feel inspired to learn, make things, and be brave enough to try something new.”
